Vince Diem
Mandolin & VocalsWhat began in 1999 as a hobby for Vince, rapidly
blossomed into a near obsession.
Upon completing a tour of active duty with the
United States Army, Vince returned to his hometown in Pennsylvania - near the
namesake of the band - and immersed himself in bluegrass music. Lessons, local
jam sessions, picking with members of Twin Hill Express, Iron Ridge, and the
Almost Famous Bluegrass Band, Vince quickly honed his singing and picking
skills.
During his tenure with Flyin' Blind Bluegrass,
Vince further honed his singing and playing skills. For that experience Vince
brings to Flint Hollow a dynamic sense of rhythm, fluid lead breaks, and singing
that is filled with spirit.
Vince has also penned numerous original songs all
of which have been warmly received by audience members.
Vince lives with his family in Winchester,
Virginia.

Randy Collins
Rhythm Guitar & VocalsRandy is a native of Washington D.C. and his
roots run deep when it comes to Bluegrass music.
Randy's father and grandfather
taught him how to play and love the traditional tunes and gospel hymns. His
granddaddy Jeff played the autoharp and harmonica and Randy's father played
the guitar and sang. One of Randy's most precious possessions is a photograph of
the three
of them - Randy on the banjo, granddaddy on the harmonica, and his father on the guitar.
Randy has played many years with several
bands and continues to enjoy contributing at jam sessions, community events,
pick up events and retirement homes.
Randy is particularly fond of the
slow ballads and love songs as well as singing the "high
lonesome" tenor.
Though granddaddy Jeff and his father have passed away, through Randy their music
lives on.
Randy lives in Leesburg, Virginia with his wife Anne
and three children.

Chris Athey
BanjoChris has played the banjo since his interest was
piqued in the late 1970's. Rummaging through his brother's LP collection he
found several bluegrass albums and instantly fell in love with the banjo.
After years of playing at jam sessions, in 1997
Chris joined the band Vintage Blend, of which he
was a member until the band ceased to exist in 2002.
Chris roots his playing in the Scruggs tradition
with influences from masters such as Earl (of course), Doug Dillard, Joe
Mullins, and J.D. Crowe.
Chris brings to
Flint Hollow a focused, hard-core drive that has earned him accolades from fellow
musicians. Chris assists with the arranging of many of the songs in Flint
Hollow's
repertoire and has also contributed several original tunes.
Chris lives with his wife and two daughters in Loudoun County,
Virginia where he has served since 1984 with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Dave Swiger
Bass Fiddle & Vocals
Dave
grew up listening to Bluegrass, but didn’t start playing Bass until he was
eighteen. He credits his life long love of Bluegrass
to three uncles that played. His uncle Jim Heldreth was well known in the
central West Virginia area as a fine Bluegrass player, especially fiddle.
He
has played in many different bands over the years, Southern Sons of Bluegrass,
Apple Jack, Golden Grass, and Blackberry Jam, to name a few. He has been
influenced by many of the nationally know pickers, like Monroe, Flatt and
Scruggs, Seldem Scene, but gives most of the credit to the local pickers he has
played with over the years.
Dave
is a school teacher and lives with his wife Vickie in Berkeley Springs,
West Virginia.
